TIPS Personnel is actively seeking an experienced and motivated Underground Construction Foreman to lead our utility crews on large-scale infrastructure projects in Edmonton. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with a strong background in underground sewer, water, and storm installations. Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise daily site operations for underground utility installations
  • Review and interpret blueprints, project specs, and schedules
  • Coordinate with project managers to develop timelines, budgets, and site plans
  • Oversee excavation, grading, compaction, and pipe installation activities
  • Allocate and manage labor, equipment, and materials to maintain workflow and meet deadlines
  • Provide mentorship and support to field staff, ensuring proper techniques and safety practices
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor safety compliance and work quality
  • Enforce all OH&S guidelines and TIPS Personnel site safety procedures
  • Utilize construction software (e.g., Bluebeam, B2W) for project tracking and reporting
  • Handle on-site problem-solving and adjust crew tasks to keep the project on track
  • Prepare and submit daily progress reports and updates to management
  • Conduct and document toolbox talks and safety meetings
  • Work closely with clients, engineers, and inspectors to ensure site expectations are met

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in underground utility and earthworks construction (minimum 3–5 years in a leadership role)
  • Solid understanding of civil construction techniques and industry standards
  • Familiar with reading and interpreting blueprints, grade sheets, and site plans
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable managing field staff and handling multiple priorities under pressure
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs in an outdoor construction environment
  • Must have valid driver’s license and personal transportation (job sites are not transit accessible)
  • Must provide steel-toe boots and PPE
  • Availability for full-time seasonal work, including occasional weekends

Pay: $40.00-$45.00 per hour
