TIPS Personnel is actively seeking an experienced and motivated Underground Construction Foreman to lead our utility crews on large-scale infrastructure projects in Edmonton. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with a strong background in underground sewer, water, and storm installations. Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise daily site operations for underground utility installations
- Review and interpret blueprints, project specs, and schedules
- Coordinate with project managers to develop timelines, budgets, and site plans
- Oversee excavation, grading, compaction, and pipe installation activities
- Allocate and manage labor, equipment, and materials to maintain workflow and meet deadlines
- Provide mentorship and support to field staff, ensuring proper techniques and safety practices
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor safety compliance and work quality
- Enforce all OH&S guidelines and TIPS Personnel site safety procedures
- Utilize construction software (e.g., Bluebeam, B2W) for project tracking and reporting
- Handle on-site problem-solving and adjust crew tasks to keep the project on track
- Prepare and submit daily progress reports and updates to management
- Conduct and document toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Work closely with clients, engineers, and inspectors to ensure site expectations are met
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in underground utility and earthworks construction (minimum 3–5 years in a leadership role)
- Solid understanding of civil construction techniques and industry standards
- Familiar with reading and interpreting blueprints, grade sheets, and site plans
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Comfortable managing field staff and handling multiple priorities under pressure
- Physically fit and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs in an outdoor construction environment
- Must have valid driver’s license and personal transportation (job sites are not transit accessible)
- Must provide steel-toe boots and PPE
- Availability for full-time seasonal work, including occasional weekends
