About the Role

TIPS Personnel is currently recruiting an experienced Welder/Fitter for one of our valued Alberta clients. We are looking for a skilled trades professional who can fabricate, fit, and weld metal components to industry standards while working with structural steel, custom metal parts, and engineered blueprints in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications
• Fabricate and fit metal components with accuracy and attention to detail
• Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding as required per project
• Complete welds in accordance with CWB / CSA W47.1 standards
• Safely operate shop equipment including:
• Cutting torches
• Grinders
• Drill presses
• Band saws
• Conduct quality checks to ensure all work meets safety and fabrication requirements
• Lay out, position, and secure components prior to welding
• Maintain a clean, safe work area following Alberta OH&S regulations
• Work independently and collaboratively to meet production deadlines

Qualifications

• Journeyman Welder, 3rd/4th year apprentice, or equivalent experience
• CWB certification (SMAW / FCAW / GMAW) — current or eligible for renewal
• 2–5 years of welding and fitting experience
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
• Experience with structural steel, fabrication, and layout
• Working knowledge of Alberta OH&S requirements
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a shop environment
• Valid CSA-approved PPE (steel-toe boots, gloves, etc.)

Assets (Not Required)

• Forklift or overhead crane experience
• Pressure welding background
• Alberta fabrication shop experience
• Ability to weld stainless steel or aluminum
